At present we have around 75 special people who give their time, energy and skills to preserve this magnificent historical property and keep it looking its best.

These volunteers are unleashing all kinds of creative energies, bringing a great spirit to a place of great beauty.

The tearooms have new menu items that have attracted visitors to linger longer and enjoy a snack or meal in a serene environment with breath-taking views and fabulous floral arrangements.

The gift shop has had a total re-vamp with a new range of exciting goods and books for sale.

The garden, under the watchful eye of the head gardener and assistant gardener, has volunteers who help maintain its impressive grounds and tend to our nursery.

We have our own volunteer ‘historian’ who enthusiastically researches and records local historical information for use by the volunteer guides.

Our Events Planning Committee cook up exciting and unique public events that have people of all ages flocking through our gate.

And at the gate there is always a welcoming face to greet our visitors.

On the last Friday of each month we get together for a much earned social ‘happy hour’ (or two) to chat, meet new volunteers, hear any new thoughts and celebrate all that has been achieved.

Volunteer training courses are run in our quiet periods mid-winter and late summer but you don’t have to wait for a course to begin. You can start any time.

If you would like to join us please phone, visit for a chat or contact us via this web site.
